About Us
Karen (Principal/Teacher)
Karen is the Principal and purchased our school in 2011. She is the mother of two adult Maori children who were schooled in Montessori for around 10 years. Donovan and Savanna both work at Aroha. Karen has an AMI Montessori diploma 3-6 (USA) as well as a degree in teaching. She completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Leadership in 2015. She is a certified teacher and holds a current first aid certificate. She loves teaching te reo Māori to the tamariki and is passionate about outdoor education.
Monika (Teacher)
Monika is a mother of two grown up children who attended Montessori as children. She is a certified teacher with a degree in teaching and a Montessori diploma. She has been teaching for 20 years both in Montessori and early childhood settings and is first aid qualified. She loves teaching her home language of German to the children.
Bronwyn (Teacher)
Bronwyn is the mother of two children who attended our Montessori preschool many years ago. She has a degree in teaching and is a fully certified teacher with a current first aid certificate.. Her passion is special education and she loves teaching NZ Sign Language to the children.
Maria (Administrator)
Maria is the mother of a Montessori child who started her Montessori education at our preschool before going on to Montessori primary and high school. Maria is our office administrator and has many years experience in administration. She also helps out in the classroom when needed. Maria's passion is baking!
Donovan (Finances)
Donovan attended Montessori from the age of 2 until 12. He is currently at Massey University extramurally doing a double major in Finance and Accounting. Donovan does all our billing and finances and also relieves for us. He is proudly from Ngai Tahu iwi and his passion is sport which he shares with the tamariki.
Tina (Team Member)
Tina has been coming to Montessori for 5 years. She loves to give the children high fives and cuddles. She enjoys running around outside with the children and digging big holes in the bark chips. Her passion is eating and she is good at keeping the floor clean under the lunch tables.
